What is your Optus story?

I started fresh out of college in 2016 as an Account Manager. After a year and a half, I became a Senior Account Manager.

What is your official job title?

Senior Account Manager

What should your job title be?

Sales Secretary/Life Coach

Describe your day to day job.

My job is to be a solutions partner to my customers. Whether it be providing quotes, resources, support, or project planning, my job is to listen to their needs, deliver a solution, and make their jobs simpler. While taking care of my current customers, I am also searching for new customers that could benefit from our products and services.

What is one thing that Optus does better than any other employer you have had in the past?

Optus sets you up for success. I have only had part-time jobs and internships before Optus, so I don’t have much to compare it to; however, Optus has been the best about providing me with a plethora of resources for me to do my job as well as a path to grow within the company and my own career.

Tell us about one learning or growth opportunity you have had while working at Optus.

Optus works with R.M. 'Bob' Wood Sales Leadership Center at Arkansas State University. In October of 2017, I was given the opportunity to take a few afternoons to go and teach the Sales Leadership class how to use Salesforce and about its importance in our sales organization. Not only did this teach me more about a sales tool I use every day, but it has also helped me develop leadership skills.

What do you like most about working at Optus?

What I really like about Optus is the camaraderie. I feel comfortable talking to anyone at any level of the organization which makes my job easier and more enjoyable. Bonus: I get to wear jeans.

We like to say, Optus is like a family. Who at Optus is like family to you and why?

I would have to say the lunch crew. You really get to know a group of people when you must try and decide what to eat every day- the ultimate team-building exercise.

Where did you grow up?

I moved around when I was little as a military brat. My family eventually settled in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Brag about your family. I think it would be more accurate to call my family a zoo. We don’t have any children, but we do have two cats, two ferrets, and a little dog. They are all named from movies are games we really like: Toulouse, (Princess) Peach, Zero, Freya, and Chappie.

What do you do for fun?

I am a movie buff. On average, I see at least 2-3 movies at the theater each week. I also love to travel. I like to go to the Smoky Mountains or Disney World at least once a year if I can.

What was your first job?

I spent 7 years working my first job at a local movie theater. I worked in practically every position there and eventually moved my way up to management during college.

What is something very few people know about you?

I am a pretty decent prankster. The more complex or longer a joke runs, the more fun I have. Only my family, close friends, and work buddies see this side of me. I can be pretty mischievous.

What quote/motto do you live by?

Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.
